Why Your Morning Coffee Ritual Matters More Than You Think

Dear Coffee Lovers,
After the summer break, it’s time to prepare for harvest and the winter ahead. I want to share a few thoughts about morning routines - and why the way we drink coffee matters.
Most of us have a favourite coffee and a go-to brewing method. But have you ever asked yourself why that choice?
For me, the journey has been full of trial and error. I recently switched to a semi-automatic bean-to-cup machine for early mornings. It took some getting used to. I’ve always been a bit traditional, but also comfort-driven.
There was a time when pods seemed like the “smart” choice. I believed variety meant quality. I was even loyal to big coffee brands, queuing for takeaway cups because I thought they fit my busy lifestyle.
But my perspective has shifted. Now, every time I grind beans, I pause to honour the hands that made it possible. This summer, I visited a coffee cooperative in Guatemala and met Don Alejandro and his family. Their kindness and dedication left a deep impression on me.
That visit reminded me what speciality coffee really means. It’s not just about flavour or quality standards - it’s about fairness. Farmers are paid properly. The craft is respected at every step. And we, as drinkers, get to enjoy something truly meaningful in our cup.
Paying a little more isn’t just about taste. It’s about making sure the whole cycle - from farm to cup - is fair, sustainable, and secure.
Quality isn’t only a measurement. It’s a lifestyle. Every morning, with every cup, we choose how to begin our day - and how we support the people behind it.
Thanks for being part of this journey. By choosing Ethnico, you’re choosing better flavour, better values, and a more conscious ritual.
Enjoy your cuppa,
Carlos
